SMK Insurance Limited was started in 1985 by Steve Kimball. In 2005 the name was changed from its original name of Trafalgar Insurance Agency to SMK Insurance Limited.

SMK Insurance specializes in group insurance with its first and on going association being the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC). It has since branched out to offer retail automobile and property insurance as well as commercial insurance.

The agency offers services in both English and French and operates in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland.
